Team Authors Algarve – Privacy Policy according to General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR)

Introduction

In this privacy policy, the company "Team Authors Algarve" ("we", "our" or "us") sets out its practices regarding data collected from users who access our website at www.teamauthors-algarve.com ("website") or otherwise provide us with personal data ("users").

User rights

Users ("you") have the following rights:

  1. Confirmation of whether and to what extent your personal data is being used and processed, access to the personal data held about you and to request additional information.
  2. Request a copy of the personal data you have voluntarily provided to us in a structured, commonly used and machine-readable format.
  3. Request a correction of the personal data we hold about you.
  4. Request the erasure of your personal data.
  5. Object to the processing of your personal data by us.
  6. Request that we restrict the processing of your personal data.
  7. Lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority.

However, please note that these rights are not unlimited and are subject to our own legitimate interests as well as regulations by the authorities (see "With whom is the data shared?").

Storage

We will store your personal data for as long as is necessary to provide our services, comply with legal obligations and resolve disputes and enforce our policies. Retention periods will depend on the type of data collected and the purpose for which it was collected, taking into account both case-specific circumstances and the need to delete outdated, unused information as soon as possible. We retain data records containing client personal data, account set-up documents, communications and other data in accordance with applicable laws and regulations.

We may correct, complete or remove incomplete or inaccurate data at any time and in our sole discretion.

Basis for data collection

The processing of your personal data (i.e. any data that can reasonably be used to identify you; "personal data") is necessary to fulfil our contractual obligations to you and to provide you with our services, to protect our legitimate interest and to comply with legal and financial regulatory obligations to which we are subject.

By using this website including communications between you and us, you agree with the collection, storage, use, disclosure and other use of your personal data as described in this privacy policy.

What data do we collect?

We collect two types of data and information from users.

The first category includes non-identifying and non-identifiable user data provided or collected through the use of the website ("non-personal data"). We do not know the identity of the user from whom non-personal data has been collected. Non-personal data that may be collected includes aggregate usage data and technical data transmitted from your device including certain software and hardware information (e.g. browser and operating system used on the device, language setting, access time, etc.). We use this data to improve the functionality of our website.

We use a consent management platform (usercentrics). Scripts on the website that collect user data and require consent to do so, are only executed after consent has been given, e.g. by ticking a box or clicking a button. The user's details are stored by the consent management platform so that the request for consent does not have to be redisplayed when the website is called up again and so that consent is secured for evidence purposes. The consent management platform makes it possible to subsequently change or revoke the consent given.

The second category includes personal data of users, i.e. data that can identify an individual or can be identified by reasonable measures. Such data include:

  • Device data: We collect personal data from your device. Such data includes geolocation data, IP address, unique identifiers (e.g. MAC address and UUID) and other data resulting from your activity on the website.
  • Data arising from communications between you and us.

How do we obtain data about you?

We obtain your personal data from a variety of sources:

  • You provide such data to us voluntarily, for example when you communicate with us.
  • We obtain such data when you use our website or access it in connection with one of our services.
  • We obtain such data from other providers, services and public registers.

How is the data used? With whom is the data shared?

We do not share user data with third parties except as described in this privacy policy.

We use data for the following purposes:

  • To communicate with you (send notices regarding our services, provide information and handle customer enquiries).
  • To inform you about new services
  • To market our products (see "Marketing and advertising" for more information).

In addition to the purposes set out in this privacy policy, we may share personal data with our trusted third party service providers located in different jurisdictions around the world for the following reasons:

  • Hosting and operating our website
  • Providing our services
  • Storing and processing such data on our behalf
  • Providing advertising materials associated with our website and services
  • Conducting studies, technical diagnosis or analysis.

We may also disclose data when we believe in good faith that it is helpful or appropriate to:

  • comply with applicable laws, regulations, legal proceedings or governmental requests;
  • enforce our policies (including our agreement) and investigate possible violations in this regard, if any;
  • investigate, detect, prevent or take action regarding illegal activities or other misconduct, suspected fraud or security issues;
  • assert or enforce our own legal claims or defend ourselves against the claims of others;
  • protect the rights, property or safety of ourselves, our users, you or third parties; or to
  • cooperate with law enforcement authorities and/or protect intellectual property or other legal rights.

Cookies

We and our partners use cookies to provide the relevant services. This also applies when you visit our website or access our services.

A "cookie" is a small piece of data that is assigned to your device from a website when you visit this website. Cookies are useful and can be used for a variety of purposes. These include for example, making it easier to navigate between different pages, automatically activating certain functions, saving your settings and optimising access to our services. The use of cookies also allows us to serve you with relevant advertisements based on your interests and to collect statistical information about your use of our services.

This website uses the following types of cookies:

  • "Session cookies" which provide normal system usage. Session cookies are only stored for a limited time during a session and are deleted from your device when you close your browser.

  • "Persistent cookies" which are only read by the website and are not deleted when you close your browser window but are stored on your computer for a set period of time. This type of cookie allows us to identify you on your next visit and to save your settings, for example.

  • "Third-party cookies" which are set by other online services that are represented with their own content on the page you visit. These can be, for example, external web analytics companies that record and analyse the access to our website.

Cookies do not contain any personal data that identifies you but the personal data we store may be linked by us to the data contained in the cookies. You can remove cookies via the device settings on your device. Follow the appropriate instructions to do so. Please note that disabling cookies may result in the restriction of certain functions when using our website.

The tool we use is based on Snowplow Analytics technology. The data we collect about the use of our website includes, for example, how often users visit the website or which areas are accessed. The tool we use does not collect any personal data and is used by our web hosting provider and service provider solely to improve their own offering.

Use of script libraries (Google Web Fonts)

To ensure that our content is displayed correctly and graphically appearing in every browser, we use script and font libraries such as Google Web Fonts (https://www.google.com/webfonts) for this website. Google Web Fonts are transferred to your browser's cache so that they only have to be loaded once. If your browser does not support Google Web Fonts or denies access, the content is displayed in a standard font.

  • When script or font libraries are called up, a connection to the operator of the library will be established automatically. Theoretically, it is possible for this operator to collect data. At present, it is not known whether and for what purpose the operators of the corresponding libraries actually collect data.
  • You can find the privacy policy of the operator of the Google library here: https://www.google.com/policies/privacy

Collection of data by third parties

This policy only addresses the use and disclosure of data that we collect from you. If you post data on other websites or disclose it to third parties on the internet, different rules may apply. Therefore, always read the terms and conditions and the privacy policy carefully when disclosing data.

This privacy policy does not apply to the business practices of companies that we do not own or control or to anyone other than our employees and members of staff including third parties to whom we disclose this data as described in this privacy policy.

How do we protect your data?

We implement the security measures on the website with great care, protect your collected and stored data and prevent the unauthorised use of such data. We also require third parties to comply with security requirements in accordance with this privacy policy. Although we take reasonable steps to protect data, we cannot be held responsible for the actions of those who gain unauthorised access to or misuse our website and we give no express or implied warranty that we can prevent such access.

Transfer of data outside the European Economic Area

Please note that some recipients may not be based in the European Economic Area. If this is the case, we will only transfer your data to countries with an adequate level of data protection approved by the European Commission or ensure an adequate level of data protection by a legal agreement.

Marketing and advertising

We may use your personal data such as your name, email address, telephone number, etc. ourselves to provide you with advertising material regarding our services that may be of interest to you.

We respect your right to privacy. Therefore, you will always be given the opportunity to unsubscribe from further mailings in that advertising material. If you unsubscribe, your email address or phone number will be removed from our marketing distribution lists.

Note that even if you unsubscribe from receiving our marketing emails, we will continue to send you emails with important information that do not include an unsubscribe option. These include, but are not limited to, administrative notifications.

Company Transaction

We may share data in the event of a company transaction (e.g. sale of significant parts of a business, merger or acquisition). If any of the above occurs, the acquirer or the relevant company will assume the rights and obligations stated in this privacy policy.

Minors

The website is not designed for or directed at children. The use of our services by minors is only permitted with the prior consent or authorisation of a parent or guardian. We do not knowingly collect personal data from minors. If a parent or guardian becomes aware that his or her child has provided us with personal data without their consent, he or she may contact us at info@teamauthors-algarve.com.
